Burglar Nabbed For $2K Theft In Glen Head: Police

A homeless man has been arrested nearly a month after he stole over $2,000 worth of goods from work trailers parked on the grounds of a Long Island high school.

Police announced the arrest of 35-year-old Kyle Simpson on Tuesday, April 16 for his alleged role in the Glen Head burglary, which took place nearly a month before on Thursday, March 21.

At approximately 1:30 a.m. that morning, Simpson is thought to have broken into two parked work trailers, which were located on the grounds of North Shore High School at 450 Glen Cove Road.

He used a metal rod to pick the locks and took a backpack filled with two iPhones, house keys, blank checks, and various paperwork. In all, police said the items cost around $2,100.

At the time, Simpson, who was wearing all black, fled on foot, heading northbound towards Glen Cove Avenue.

Simpson, who is homeless, was arrested following an investigation and is charged with the following:

  • Burglary, two counts; and
  • Criminal mischief, two counts.

He is due to be arraigned at First District Court in Hempstead on Wednesday, April 17.
